Dr. Dianna Vargo

A native of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Dr. Vargo has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Ohio University and has three advanced degrees: a Master of Arts in Science/Mathematics Education from Wheeling College, a Master of Arts in Education Administration from WVU, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from WVU.

Dr. Vargo came to Wheeling University as an adjunct in the education program in 2016, after retiring from Ohio County Schools. She later became an assistant professor of Education and Director of Graduate Education and the ACT programs. She also oversaw the Master of Educational Leadership (MEL) program. In 2021, she became the Director of Education Programs at Wheeling. Under her leadership, Forbes Education chose the MEL program as one of the 10 best online educational leadership programs in the United States last Spring.

Dr. Vargo is active in the greater Wheeling community, serving as a member of the Wheeling Hall of Fame Committee, a member of the City of Wheeling Municipal Civil Service Commission, and a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Executive Board.
