
 Wheeling Jesuit University is the only Catholic institution of higher education in West Virginia. Founded in 1954, Wheeling Jesuit is the youngest of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. The Jesuit tradition of educational excellence and service to others guides all the programs at the University. U. S. News & World Report named Wheeling Jesuit the 21st best master's university in the south region.
By integrating learning, research and economic development with classical knowledge and Christian revelation, the University seeks to foster competence, creativity and innovation for use in the classroom and everyday life. Wheeling Jesuit produces graduates who enter the professional world prepared to use their God-given talents not solely for personal fulfillment, but as men and women in service to others.
The 65-acre campus located in Wheeling, W. Va., offers more than 30 undergraduate programs of study and six graduate degrees to about 1,500 students each year. Wheeling Jesuit has a student-to-faculty ratio of 14 to 1. The University fields 18 NCAA Division II athletic teams.
The University's outstanding facilities include 15 modern buildings and residence halls, a 100,000 square-foot recreation center and a new $1.5 million soccer/track and field complex. The campus is home to the Robert C. Byrd National Technology Transfer Center, The Center for Education Technologies, the NASA sponsored Classroom of the Future, a Challenger Learning Center and the Clifford M. Lewis Appalachian Institute.
