Ohio Valley University
Dr. James A. Johnson of Stanton, Texas, is the seventh president of Ohio Valley University. He received his B.A. from Lubbock Christian University and did graduate and post-graduate work at Texas Tech University, Indiana University, and Harvard University. His doctoral degree was awarded from Texas Tech.
As CEO of The Ethos Leadership Group, Inc., an internationally known executive coaching and leadership training consultancy based in Washington, DC, Johnson continues to consult clients across the country. He has recently worked with M&M Mars, Uncle Ben's Rice, Kal Kan, Pedigree, Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo.
He also worked as a speech writer for President George Bush's 1988 campaign, Senator Elizabeth Dole, Senator Beau Boulter, Texas House Speaker Jim Rudd, Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond, and Lt. Governor Mark Taylor.
During his career Johnson has raised over $20 million dollars in cash and grant funding for various project initiatives. He has also received formal recognition from the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate for his work in establishing community education programs.
He has been featured in Georgia Trend Magazine and Innovation Abstracts for various workforce development programs he has implemented. In 1993, he was named "Scholar of Communication" by the Western Social Science Association and recognized by the National Communication Association. James has received the prestigious "International LEARN Award" and is listed in the Congressional Heritage Directory of Who's Who.
James is married to the former Lesa Francis. They have two children, Jonathan and Angela.
