Located on a picturesque mountaintop campus of 130 acres and 19 buildings overlooking historic downtown Philippi, Alderson-Broaddus College has an enrollment of almost 800 students.
A-B's excellent faculty, which includes many Ph.D. specialists, work together in a close-knit community of scholarship and dedicated student support. The student/faculty ratio is 10:1, and many courses are taught as small seminars. More than 99 percent of the students receive some form of financial aid.
A-B College prides itself in its strong established science and liberal arts programs, offering more than 31 majors. A-B pioneered the first accredited four-year physician assistant program in the country and the first baccalaureate nursing program in West Virginia.
A-B's renowned music program continues to produce outstanding student musicians who earn high honors in state and regional competitions.
A-B students routinely distinguish themselves in regional, national, and international competitions. The A-B forensics team repeatedly defeats opposing teams from large universities and prestigious private colleges. A-B's Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team ranks as the top school in the region.
A-B is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division II and competes in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC). A-B offers eleven intercollegiate varsity sports. The A-B Men's Basketball team won the WVIAC tournament championship in 2008 and has appeared in the NCAA regional tournaments in each of the last seven years.
A-B places an emphasis on action and involvement. Whether business or teacher education, virtually all majors at A-B place students in internship settings where they will gain direct experience in their chosen field. In addition, students participate in numerous community service projects, like Habitat for Humanity.
Alderson-Broaddus College is a health-related and professional educational institution firmly rooted in the liberal arts. Alderson-Broaddus is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, USA, and the West Virginia Baptist Convention.
